Emrick Applauds Response, Repair by Norfolk Southern
4/18/2012
MT. BETHEL – State Rep. Joe Emrick (R-Northampton) is commending Norfolk Southern Railway for its work in restoring the Uhler Road railroad crossing in Forks Township that had become a traffic hazard for commuters.

“The railroad crossing at Uhler Road handles a high volume of vehicles, and it had fallen into disrepair to the point that traffic was brought to a virtual halt as cars and trucks creep across the tracks,” Emrick said. “I am happy to see Norfolk Southern is being a good neighbor and reacting quickly to the pressure we put on them to fix the problem.”

Emrick personally corresponded with Norfolk Southern Chief Executive Officer “Wick” Moorman in passing along the high volume of constituent complaints his district office received and his disappointment with the situation.

“I tried to communicate to him the need to address the railroad crossing, which had deteriorated to the point where it was a disruption to traffic flow and a safety concern,” added Emrick. “The condition of the Uhler Road crossing was simply not acceptable, and needed to be dealt with immediately.”

Norfolk Southern is also repairing the nearby Kesslerville Road crossing, which should soon open to traffic.
