Hahn, Emrick Applaud Grants for Local Projects
NORTHAMPTON – State Reps. Joe Emrick (R-Mt. Bethel) and Marcia Hahn (R-Nazareth) are pleased to announce grants being awarded in their districts to seven Northampton County projects by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

The CFA was established as an independent agency to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The grants, totaling $6 million annually, are generated solely by revenue from the Mt. Airy Casino, Mount Pocono.
The funds are distributed among the five counties adjacent to Monroe County. The Northampton County grant recipients include the following: 

  • Bangor Borough - $100,000 for realignment of Brushy Meadow Creek to address flooding problems experienced by homeowners living near the waterway.
  • Bethlehem Township - $100,000 for renovation and expansion of the Nancy Run Fire Company.
  • East Bangor Borough – $120,814 for renovation and remodeling of the former site of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 30 South High St., into the municipal government building.
  • Lower Nazareth Township – $440,000 for infrastructure improvements that will allow for the development of 25 additional acres at Lower Nazareth Commercial Park.
  • Palmer Township – $450,000 for the new Main Street interchange off Route 33 between Routes 191 and 248. The project includes replacement of the Main Street bridge over Route 33 and development of surrounding 800 acres into industrial, commercial, distribution and office space.
  • Slate Belt YMCA Project - $400,000 for next phase of construction at the Slate Belt YMCA in Pen Argyl Borough. Project includes construction of locker rooms, wellness center and aerobics area.
  • Wind Gap Borough - $35,000 for purchase of two police vehicles.
