House Committee to Examine Mobile Home Assessment Bill, Says Emrick
HARRISBURG – On Wednesday, April 30, the House Local Government Committee will hold a public hearing on a piece of legislation affecting a number of residents in the 137th Legislative District, according to state Rep. Joe Emrick (R-Northampton).

“I’ve received a number of telephone calls and emails on House Bill 161, which deals with assessment of mobile homes,” Emrick said. “The bill’s author, state Rep. Dan Moul (R-Adams/Franklin), even visited the district recently to discuss his legislation with my constituents.”

Pennsylvania’s system of assessments views mobile homes in the same manner as any residential property. House Bill 161 would require the following to be taken into consideration:

• The value placed on the mobile home or house trailer in a national directory or valuation guide prepared by an association that analyzes mobile home and house trailer sales and other relevant data.
• Any depreciation in value of the unit
• The ability of the mobile home or house trailer to be transported from one site to another.

You can watch the hearing on Emrick’s website,, beginning at 9:15 a.m.
