HARRISBURG – Motivated by the light cast upon the Commonwealth’s current, failing budget system and policies over the past five months, an ad-hoc budget group of 18 rank-and-file House Republican members refused to stop with the submission of a no-tax-or-borrow budget revenue proposal. The group, which proposed using tax dollars stowed away in reserve accounts instead of increasing taxes, has continued to meet weekly since the submission of the proposal, and has formally organized as the Common Sense Caucus (CSC).
MOUNT BETHEL - Three municipalities in the 137th Legislative District are recipients of Community Conservation Partnerships Program grants, according to state Rep. Joe Emrick (R-Nazareth). Funded with federal and state money, these grants are administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

NAZARETH – The Borough of Bangor is the recipient of a nearly $2 million Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) grant to address flooding on Messinger Street, according to state Rep. Joe Emrick (R-Nazareth). The money will be used to replace the existing slate box culvert with a storm sewer.

HARRISBURG – After seven weeks of diligent work to find an alternative to the Senate’s plan to raise taxes on every Pennsylvanian, a group of House Republicans released today the Taxpayers’ Budget to fund the 2017-18 budget without the need to borrow money or increase taxes.
HARRISBURG – House Bill 218, the general appropriations piece of the state budget process, is headed to Gov. Tom Wolf’s desk following a 173-27 vote in the House today. The bill calls for a minimal increase in spending and a substantial hike in funding for Pennsylvania’s public schools.
