Emrick to Help Stock Minsi Lake for Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day
UPPER MOUNT BETHEL – Rep. Joe Emrick (R-Northampton) announced today that he will join Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) Executive Director Tim Schaeffer, local government officials and other community partners in a trout stocking event at Minsi Lake on Monday, March 23.
“I am delighted to take part in this kickoff event, as we move ever closer to the official reopening of Minsi Lake,” Emrick said. “Like so many residents of the region, I am thrilled that this day has finally arrived.”
The event will begin at 10:30am with celebratory remarks from project partners, followed by the trout stocking at approximately 11:00am.
The PFBC will stock rainbow trout and golden rainbow trout that will first be available to youth anglers on Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day on Saturday, March 28. The regional opening day of trout season is Saturday, April 4.
“I want to express my gratitude to the folks at the Fish and Boat Commission for their hard work and cooperation, and for keeping an open line of communication, not only with my office but with the community at large,” added Emrick.
“My thanks also go out to the Friends of Minsi Lake and everyone who made this construction project possible. It will be great to have kids cast their lines on March 28 as we mark the official reopening of the lake.”
This will be the first time that trout have been stocked in the lake since March 2017 prior to a dam rehabilitation project that required the lake to be drained and closed, affecting the 2017-2019 fishing seasons.
The public is invited to attend and participate in the stocking on March 23. Complete schedules for the 2020 Adult Trout Stocking season can be viewed online at
