FORKS TOWNSHIP – Braden Airpark in Forks Township is the recipient of one of nine grants issued statewide for safety upgrades and expanded operation opportunities, according to state Rep. Joe Emrick (R-Nazareth).

“Not too long ago, Braden Airpark was in serious danger of being grounded for good,” Emrick said. “This grant will allow the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority to keep the facility open into its 80th anniversary next year and hopefully beyond.”

The $325,000 grant will be used for construction of a general aviation terminal at the airport, which opened in 1938 as Easton Airport. The funds are administered by PennDOT's Bureau of Aviation through the Aviation Transportation Assistance Program.

“Through the years, many people who dreamt of being a pilot got their first exposure to flying on this runway,” added Emrick.

Questions about this or any legislative issue should be directed to Emrick’s Nazareth district office at (610) 746-5090 or his Mt. Bethel office at (570) 897-0401.
